I began practicing law here in Springfield, Illinois, in 1972, with Barber & Barber, which eventually became Barber, Segatto, Hoffee and Hines. In 2008, I opened by own practice, so I could provide more attention to my clients and work directly with them to find personalized solutions to their problems.

In 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 and 2018, I was recognized as No. 1 in the Top Ten Agricultural Leading Lawyers in Illinois by Leading Lawyers Magazine. In 2015, I was recognized as No. 1 in the Top Ten Down-State Real Estate-Related Leading Lawyers in Illinois, and in 2018, No. 2. Additionally, I have been included as one of the Top 100 Leading Down-State Business Lawyers in Illinois and one of the Top 100 Leading Down-State Consumer Lawyers in Illinois, all by Leading Lawyer Magazine.

I am experienced in contesting matters involving estates and real property issues, which was affirmed on appeal finding the Illinois farm year for oral leases to run March 1 to February 28. I handled the trial of Daugherty v. Burns, 331 Ill. App. 32562. Earlier in my career, I handled First Amendment matters. During my career, I have successfully argued several cases before the Illinois Supreme Court and the Fourth District Appellate Court of Illinois.
